"Mrs samules your leaving us so soon?"

"Yes but ill be back for my check up for them to see if I need to start my chemotherapy."

" who's going to get me in trouble for sneaking them late night snacks now since your mommys going home with you shana?"

"You got her in trouble nicki!"

"Well yeah but Safaree you know I like to snack when I wake up in the middle of the night."

"What happened to your cranberries and almonds."

"What do you think happened to them I ate them Safaree. Such a stupid question. Did you get all her things?"

"Yes."

"What about y'all your stuff?"

"Got that too?"

"My stuff?"

"Do you see any of it?"

"Ok smart ass."

"But just last week I was the dummy copying mommys test."

"Safaree shut up."

Nicki hadn't put shana down since the doctor gave her the all clear for her to hold her she slept with her. Walked the halls with her safaree was pretty sure if it wasn't nasty for her to go to the bathroom with her she would.

She searched the room one more time making sure not to leave anything behind as they headed for the door. Safaree picked shana off the floor and followed behind nicki.

"Is Amy home because I won't need her much?"

"No I told her you would call when u needed her."

"Ok mommy and julani back in NYC?"

"Yes they called this morning."

"Is the baby's room done?"

"Onika chill!"

"I just want to know that the paint smell isn't still in the room Safaree."

"It's fine."

"Is the house clean Safaree you haven't been being a slob have you?"

"Onika that's what we hired Amy for everything is how you like it."

"Well I don't know that I still haven't seen her room."

"Her room is fine."

"Your definition of fine and my definition of fine two different things Safaree."

"Ok onika."

Nicki placed her hand behind his neck pulling on the tiny hairs. She smiled and looked out the window then back at the baby seat.

"You know we aren't allowed to do anything for a few months?"

"Yeah I know."

"Your going to be good with that right."

"Yup."

"I'm happy I get to sleep in my own bed with my husband and my shades that don't open until I open them."

"Are you now?"

"Yes the nights you went home I couldn't sleep stayed up thinking."

"About."

"You really want to know."

"Is it something sad?"

"Some not all."

"Then no I want you to enjoy your first day home."

"Ok. What's for dinner?"

"Want me to cook or you wanna eat out?"

"Eat out." They both said in unison.. " Pauz ." Nicki said after they laughed at the answer they both gave..

8pm

Nicki finally decided it was time for shana to get use to her room. She still didn't know what the inside of the room look like because she went straight to her room once they got home.

Safaree placed his towel from his shower on the closet door and hopped in bed.

" noooo get up faree come show us her room. Nicki said taking shana off the blanket on the bed walking towards the room. She stopped at the door Safaree had his hand on.

"Close your eyes. You too little butt." Safaree said looking down at shana.

"can I open now?"

"No walk in more."

"Ok. Can I open now ?"

"No walk in more nicki."

"But my eyes are closed Safaree."

"You saying you don't trust me."

"No I'm saying I don't wanna fall with this baby in my arms."

"Just walk."

Nicki took two more steps into the room and stopped.

"Ok now Safaree?"

"Man just open ya eyes."

"You sure?"

"Onika!"

"Ok ok. Oh my god Safaree."

"You like it?"

"Like it baby I love it."

The room was now pink and white just like Nicki asked with a white sleigh made crib that had pink bows attached to it. The rocking chair her mother bought sat in a corner of the room. Nickis favorite chair form the baby store sat in the corner with the windows. Caiah picked out a mini pink piano for the baby and Safaree set it up in the room next to Nicki's chair. Shanas initials printed on the wall and carpet and she had little drapes surrounding the bed with a chandelier hanging from the ceiling.

Nicki sat in the rocking chair with Shana and tears rolled down her face she kissed shanas head while Safaree sat on the floor listening to her sing to Shana.

Nicki repeated the song rocking in the chair until she could hear the baby's coos turn into soft snores. She lay Shana in her crib on her back turning on the camera monitor and the night light taking Safarees hand leaving the room.

Nicki lay in the bed on safarees chest both of them enjoying the silence around them. The shades were closed and the tv off. Candles were lit and Safaree sat running his fingers through her hair.

"Safaree?"

"Yes."

"Thank you."

"For."

"I'm not sure how long I have. And I know you are trying to deal with things just like I am. I appreciate that god has sent me a man to go through all of this with because if I was by my self I know I wouldn't have the strength to make it. No matter what happens you give me a peace of mind because I know she has a wonderful dad and I know you will make sure she has only the best. I know she has the best protection. That she will be loved and that she will grow into a beautiful young lady."

"Onika."

"I know you said you wanted me to enjoy my first day home but I am and that needed to be said."

"Ok. I love you and I don't think your going anywhere anytime soon." Safaree said kissing nicki.

Their kisses turned into a lustful session nicki breaking it.

"Why you stop?"

"Because I'm getting bothered and we can't."

"So don't be taking my suga from me just cuz you can't take being bothered."

"It's not that I can't take being bothered I can't take my husband in my king sized bed with a hard gone to waste." Nicki said kissing him again.

"I'm not bothered by that."

"But I am."

"Nicki."

"In time Safaree. Want to shower with me?"

"I just took a shower."

"So is that a no Safaree?" Nicki said sitting up side eying him.

"I would love to. But you know you backwards right?"

"Is that right how so."

"I just wanted a make out session. Now u trying to get me in the shower with all your naked beauty. You backwards."

"Shut up and come on boy."

"Ok start the shower ill be in."

Safaree finished a few text messages planning his last week off work with Nicki and the baby. He wanted her to be comfortable and wanted to cherish every moment he had left with his family. He wanted to take pictures and make sure every moment sleeping or not was remembered for Shana because if they did lose Nicki they would have all the memories of her and he would make sure she remembered her.

Grabbing his towel and Nicki's off the rack in the closet he stepped into the big steering shower with nicki who was sitting on the the side with her eyes closed letting the water hit her body turning her smooth Carmel skin a beat red. She felt his hands on her feet as he sat at the bottom of the shower rubbing up her feet to her legs. She let her head rest against the wall as she enjoyed this pleasure Safaree placing kisses over her stitches and the rest of her body. Her nails traced the back of his head to his neck as she found her way to his ears playing with them. She pulled him to her face by his ears their tongues becoming acquainted once more.

Nicki stood taking the towel and her dove soap lathering up. The gently grazed over her body interrupted by Safaree taking her towel from her. He washed her body gently placing kisses on her neck down her spine to her ass. Nicki moaned closing her eyes. He kissed both of her back dimples on his way back up embracing her in a tight hug.

"In your arms I feel safe."

"In my heart you will forever stay." He said to her softly as he finished washing her body.

They kept the shower going until the water was cold and both were pruned like an old couple. Safaree wrapped Nicki in her towel and helped her out the shower doing the same for him self. He put on a pair of shorts and helped Nicki rub her lotions on her body. Her now grabbing one of his clean shirts and tossing it over her head. She climbed the stepping stool to the bed and got under the comforters on her side. She stared at the monster at her sleeping child until she drifted off to sleep.

The sun kissed nickis face as she glanced over at the monitor she could see Safaree in the rocking chair feeding shana. His lips were moving but she couldn't make out what he was saying to her. She turned up the monitor and listened to him talk.

"You didn't tell mommy I sang to you did you? You can't be telling on daddy. That's a song from me to you it's our little secret. "

"He sang." Nicki said now sitting on her elbows watching them as though she was watching some sort of tv show.

The baby cooed as Safaree continued to talk he sat her up on his knees holding the back of her head for support. As he rocked back and fourth in the chair. Jamie foxx heaven played from his iPod as he softly sang along to the words.

Nicki watched until she saw him get up and head for the door. She turned the monitor back off and pretended to still be sleep.

Safaree walked into the room still talking to the baby glancing at the bed sitting on his side.
Nicki rubbed at her face turning over with a smile looking at Shana in Safarees big arms.

"Good morning mommy."

"Good morning." Nicki said with a huge grin plastered on her face.

"Why the big smile?"

"No reason I'm happy Safaree."

"Good I plan to keep you that way get up and get dressed we goin out."

"But I don't want to take her out won't she get sick."

"Nicki it's 75 degrees out she will be fine. Don't be over protective that's my job."

"Where we goin?"

"This spot I know."

"Where we goin Safaree ? I need to know what to wear."

"Something cute a sun dress like the one Shana has on or something." He said fixing at the pink yellow sundress Shana had on. Placing her on her back so he could put on her little pearl shoes.

" ok. She said quickly going in the bathroom to shower and get dressed."

Nicki looked over her self in the mirror her hair half up in a pony with the rest of her curls down her back. She smoothed down the yellow sundress and checked how her shoes looked with the dress in the full length mirror. She looked as though she was on her way to church she thought.

She opened the bathroom door to Safaree sitting with Shana on the bed his shoes on the sheets made her mad but she got over it quickly seeing him in his polo.

"I'm not over dressed am I?"

"Nope let's go."

"Safaree we look like weirdos."

"No we don't I promise come on."

Safaree placed Shana in her car seat and made sure to secure it in the back of the range. He opened Nicki's door and helped her in. He drove to a near by park that was off the water.

There was a tree where he often sat when him and nicki got into it to clear his head. He was excited to share this special place with his wife and child. Under the tree laid a quilt he had his mother make. A basket full of fruits and veggies cake and lunch for them both. He also had a bottle of wine for them to sit and enjoy while they talked.

"Safaree."

"Yes."

"Why?"

"Because I want to spend the rest of my time off with the two most beautiful things god placed in my life."

The big day

Hey y'all I decided to skip to shana being born.. Like skip it all so the chapter will start with Safaree with shana waiting for nicki to be done with surgery ... Enjoy the chapter sorry it took so long for an update... But if u want me to mention u when chapters go up leave ya @ name..

*Nickis labor was induced at 2am it took Shana until 6am to be born. Right after Shana was born they took Nicki away for surgery and Shana to be cleaned and gave her back to Safaree.*

Safaree slept with shana laying on his chest. When the nurse walked in she removed shana and placed her in the crib next to nickis bed. She opened the curtains and added more pillows to the bed like nicki asked.

"Is she done?"

"Yes she sure is they are going to be bring her in soon."

" ok is it ok if I shower in here?"

"Sure and as soon as we get onika comfortable in this room her family can come in three at a time and visit. "

"Ok thank you." Safaree said kissing the baby's head and taking his over night bag into the bathroom to shower and brush his teeth.

The doctors pushed nickis bed down the hall and into her room her pillows now sat on the window sill and she could see all the flowers from her friends and family. She wasn't able to see the baby before surgery so her eyes scanned quickly around the room for shana until they locked on the small body rising and falling in the tiny crib next to her bed.

"I know it's hard to talk right now mrs samules and I know u want to see your baby but until your meds are out of your system your going to be in and out of sleep so you may not get to physically hold shana here until tomorrow."

Nicki laid back on the bed as tears rolled from her face. She drifted off to sleep after she made her self comfortable.

Safaree sat caressing nickis long hair and watching the baby as she slept. Once julani and carol knew the surgery went well they went home to change shower and call and check on cai.

*baby screams*

Safaree popped up from his nap with nicki. She had pulled him into the bed with her hours ago and he held her while she cried her self to sleep shortly falling asleep after. He hopped out the bed careful not to wake nicki and grabbed a hold of shana. He sat in the rocking chair in the corner of the room with very little light. Placing her bottle up to her mouth her rocked back in fourth in the rocking chair.

"Want to hear your daddy sing?"

Shana just looked up eyes half open she looked soo much like nicki to him.

"Daddy will just take your silence as a yes. Don't tell mommy I sang because then she will ask me to do it all the time and well coons don't sing."

Safaree said fixing her little hat on Her head

"Tell me have you heard the story

Safaree stopped looking up at nicki then back down at shana.

"Yo I can't beleive we made something so beautiful. You will always be daddy's little coonett. And if any one so much as plucks a hair on your head god help them." He said smoothing the hair not covered by her hat. As he continued to sing.

*shana burps*

"That's how you feel about daddy's singing?" He said looking down at her.

She looked back with no reply.

"I guess so." He said now laying her down so that he could change her.

Once she was all changed he turned on the football game. Waiting for carol to bring the baby bag and his other change of clothes. Because nicki was in the hospital for a week and shana had one more day of tests before she could go home.

The doctors were constantly in and out of the room picking at nicki making sure her vitals were good and that most of all she was comfortable and had no type of discomfort. They also let Safaree know that they would start counsel sessions for Nicki to make sure she wasn't going to go into any type of depression. So he would be able to go sit with Shana in the nursing area so they wouldn't have to sit out into the lobby.

"Oh my god Safaree is that my grand baby!?" Carol said removing her coat laying it on the windowsill going straight for the hand sanitizer.

"Yes. Say who else would it be granny." He said making faces at Shana talking in a little voice.

"We need to find another name other than granny. Let me see her Safaree come on get up." He said hitting his arm removing him from the rocking chair.

Safaree smacked his lips getting out of the rocking chair as told putting Shana in her grandmas arms. He took his spot in the bed next to Nicki who was now awake watching her mom with the baby.

"Mommy hold her head." Nicki said in the smallest voice as everyone turned to stare at her.

"Awkward ." Nicki said looking around the room placing her head on safarees chest trying to get more comfortable.

"You right it is how you telling mommy how to care for the baby onika you act as though she didn't have yo and hell me too for that matter."

"Watch your mouth julani."

"But ma hell aint no curse word."

"What did I say."

"To watch my mouth but I'm trying to."

Carol just sat in silence staring her so upside his head.

"I wasn't saying mommy didn't know what she was doing her hard just looked like it was sitting weird that all. Maybe mommy couldn't see."

"So what y'all eat around this place?"

"Do I have to eat the food here Safaree?"

"You sure don't mrs Samuels." The doctor said as she glanced down at nickis chart.

" I don't?"

"Nope your vitals are good you can eat what ever you like."

"Good because I'm starving."

"They didn't come around with breakfast?"

"I was sleeping didn't get to order any."

"Oh well it's restaurants on the third floor of the hospital you guys can go there and get her something."

"Really what's down there?"

"Umm I think a subway Wendy's and its another place too I'm not sure of the name. But you guys are free to check it out while I as Nicki a few questions about how she's feeling."

"Ok we will be back."

"Just bring me back food Safaree."

"Ok."

"I need you to breathe in for me. Ok now breathe out. Any discomfort at all when you breathe?"

"No it's a little sore but I think that's just from the surgery."

"Any harsh pains at all other than in the area of the stitches?"

" no."

"Do you still feel sleepy?"

"A little not much."

"Grab a hold of my finger and squeeze."

Nicki did as she was told and let go.

"Ok. Keep this up mrs samules and you will be holding shana tomorrow morning."

"Really!"

"Yes. Really rest up today and tomorrow you will finally get to hold your baby girl."

Nicki woke at seven when she heard shana cry. She looked over at Safaree trying to shake him so that he could get up and grab the baby for her. He slept like a rock so she slapped him.

"Nicki!"

"Safaree what did you want me to do my baby is crying get up and hand her here."

"You can't hold her yet nic ill get her."

"But he told me today."

"Did he give you the all clear?"

"No but."

"But nothing Nicki ill sit in the bed with her but I'm not letting u hold her until he clears you."

" ugh ill be happy when I can go home and this shit is over."

"We all will but I need u to stop being stubborn and listen for once." He said sitting on he bed.

"Can u hold her and I just feed her?"

"Yeah what ever you want." Safaree said handing Nicki the bottle.

"she smells so good."

"Just how you use to smell when I first met you."

"Yo you remember that?"

"Of corse that shit use to make a nigga uncomfortable. That's when I use to think ya ass was mad annoying and loud."

"Safaree!" She said hitting him.

"I'm serious and u was mean as hell! Man I couldn't stand ya ass I would always wish u didn't sit next to me in class but u always did."

"Because you made time fly by. You was mad dumb."

"Oh word mommy wasn't saying that when she copied my test though."

"I didn't copy daddy's test he copied mommys don't believe any of the lies your daddy will try and fill your head with.

She said kissing her strait hair on the top of her head and then locking lips with Safaree. In just that moment everything was perfect nothing was wrong. They had an escape from reality. A peace of mind.

Hey y'all.. Ok I feel like I'm making u guys really sad with this story. I'm sorry. But I promise you guys will love what I have in store for you all. To those of you who can't take it just wait until the story finishes.. And stop waiting for her to die... Lol that was the one shot.. Who says she will die? I never said it you guys did.. I'm just asking that you guys respect my creativity. Everything has been done in onikafaree fictions everything I just thought I'd continue to write the stories you love by changing it up a bit because I can promise you this is my last onikafaree story.. And I really want to go out with a bang... But if you guys stop waiting for her to die you will enjoy it and it won't be so bad... Starting to think I should have kept this as a one shot... Pointless arguments

Ahhhhh sooo freaking excited!!! Next chapter you guys get to meet shana!! You guys are going to love her as much as I do she mad cute!!! I think I will update every Sunday both stories. I'm not sure where I want to go with rbms right now but when I find out the story will continue.. For now be happy with the ohdb post and thanks you guys for the comments... If u don't comment I don't know u like it and it takes me longer to post... Just because I'm wondering what I can change to make it better.


"Safaree don't start with me now is not a good time." Nicki said holding up her hand as he stormed through her hospital room doors.

"It's never a right time for you onika."

"Here we go." Nicki said rolling her eyes.

"You just won't be happy until you and that baby are gone." He said with sternness in his voice.

"What ok please shut up because now your really being fucking stupid. My fluids were low! has nothing to do with me safaree! and you know what your here in my face acting as though I had a choice with this shit! Acting like its all my fault! Yeah Safaree I gave me cancer I chose this shit over you and my child."

" that's not what I'm saying."

"Stop don't you've said enough." Nicki said turning in her bed so her back now faced him.

"Fuck!" He said punching the wall on his way out.

Ms carol walked through the doors of nickis room she could see tears stroll down her daughters face and passing Safaree on her way in she knew their fights only continued to get worse. Since nicki had been awake they picked at each other making one another feel guilty until one of them hit below the belt and took things too far.

" again onika."

"Ma save it."

"Who do you think your talking to young lady? Hmm? You think I'm one of your friends? Safaree? Have you lost your mind? Now I can care less about how you and Safaree treat each other that's your business I can only tell you my opinion once. But you guys will not hurt my baby with all the stress and drama do you hear me onika? You guys need to cut this out right now. Bickering arguing over what? Ill tell you what a bunch of nothing!"

"Ma."

"Don't ma me fix it! I'm going home until the morning. Ill be here tomorrow the doctors say they will induce you later tomorrow night. Fix this before you bring that baby into this mess. And I mean fix it today onika."

"Yes ma'am."

"You two are in this together. You can beat this together as long as you guys work as a team."

"Some team." Nicki mumbled under her breath.

"What was that?"

"Nothing I said good night ma."

"Good night onika."

"Who's taking you home?"

"Julani is here he's down in the lobby they wouldn't let him up."

"Oh ok well see u tomorrow ma."

"Love you onika and you fix things with that man."

"I will once he comes in here ma."

Julani sat in the lobby waiting for carol to come into view. Once he saw her he grabbed a hold of her hand helping her to the car. He opened the umbrella in the atrium of the hospital watching e doors slide open and closed. He held the umbrella over his mothers head helping her into her seat closing he door and the umbrella and getting in his seat.

"How's onika?"

"She's going to be fine baby."

"Why do you sound so mad "

"You would think her and Safaree would be closer because of this but all I've done was watch them drift apart."

"You think it's turning them against each other?"

"No I think your sisters attitude is unacceptable and it's stressing the poor child out. He's trying to be supportive but I just don't know how much more he will take from onika."

" well why she acting like that ma?"

"Who knows julani I told her to fix things before the morning they are going t induce her labor in a few hours."

"Will they cal us when the baby comes?"

"Yeah they should. You ok baby?"

"I don't know ma it's just... Never mind."

"No speak baby."

"I'm scared for her." He said placing the car in park in the driveway.

"We all are baby that normal but you have to know that god has onika and he will take care of her for us as long as we have faith in his work and Believe. She will be ok baby I know she will. "

"I know all of that ma but do you ever think of the what ifs? All I could think about sitting in that room was the what ifs. What if having this baby is too much for her? What if she doesn't make it through surgery. What if the baby is too premature?"

"Every thing is going to be fine trust in god baby pray for her and stay strong. We are a strong family and a family that prays together stays together. He wouldn't take her from us."

Julani removed his keys from the ignition and pulled out his house key to the door. Roman ran out to the car sniffing around and then ran back into the house up to the master bed room and back down the stairs looking for nicki or Safaree. He sat by the door and begain to cry loudly.

"What's wrong ro?"

The dog just laid out on the floor and continued to cry.

"He misses them that all. Come here roman." Carol said patting her lap for the puppy to sit on.

She rubbed the space on his head trying to get him to be quite until he was finally silent.

"It's ok ro they will be home soon."

The dog sighed once more jumping down off the couch and making his way back up to the master bed room getting comfortable on the bottom of the bed.

Nicki opened her eyes blinking rapidly trying to focus. It was now two in the morning and they wanted to induce her at four. She focused on the shape in front of her seeing Safaree in the pull out chair with a blanket. She stared at him watching his chest rise and fall. She coughed trying to wake him and even dropped a few things off her night stand trying to get his attention. Still nothing. She sighed and peered over at the window seeing a box of puff tissue she rose to her knees trying to reach for the small box. She finally had it and slipped falling onto the call nurse button.

"Mrs Samuels are you ok?"

"Fuck!" Nicki said fixing the covers laying back In the bed.

"What was that?"

"I'm fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yup." She said staring at a still sleeping Safaree.

"Ok."

Nicki looked at the box of tissue silently cursing it out for making her hit the button. She tossed the box at Safaree hitting him in the head causing his hat to fall on the floor off his face.

"What the fuck!" He said sitting up looking confused.

"Sorry." Nicki said raising her eye brows scrunching up her face.

"What?"

"I just wanted to talk."

"Oh now you want to hear what I have to say?"

"I'm sorry Safaree!"

"Yeah whatever Nicki."

"Fine I'm not! But you want to know what. You don't make this easy!"

"What do you mean what else am I suppose to do Nicki?"

"I don't know."

"You do what am I not doing that you think I should be? What the fuck haven't I done to try and keep you and the baby good since we found out about this shit?"

"It's like you work against me."

"How onika? Please explain?" He said confused.

"I mean making me stay home it just gives me time to pace the floors and stress over thinking I'm going to die. What don't you get about me being scared? I'm fucking scared Safaree! I'm scared that if this don't go right I could lose my baby and possibly my life! I'm scared that one day I could go to sleep and be completely fine and you could wake to find me not breathing. I'm scared of the pain from me being gone what would it do to you! So excuse the hell out of me if I'm a bit bitchy at times. Excuse me for wanting to do shit to get my mind off this." She said now getting under the covers her tears hitting the pillows her rubbing her belly trying to calm shana.

"Baby?" Safaree said running to her side touching her face.

Nicki removed safarees hand turning on her other side.
